Finger-pointing at the Museum

Following a suggestion from Lynn at Diary of a Turtlehead, we took the Monkey to the Museum of Nature so that he might check out the Dinosaur floor.

Upon walking through the front door, you can see the Dinosaur area complete with huge skeletons (many of them real fossils!) through some glass doors just off to the right. Also off to the right was the coat room, which Alex decided to use. Getting to the coat room required walking past the hallway leading to the dinosaur area, and as we wandered that way I asked Cole something like, “Ready to see some dinos?”

I did not get quite the reaction I was hoping for.

First Haircut

At a day later than 22 months old, the monkey had his first haircut.

We were starting to call him our little “mad scientist”, so I guess it was long overdue. But we held off because no matter how unruly the hair was getting, his mess of curls still marked him as our little baby instead of our little boy (a common feeling, apparently).

Wild Weekend!

Mama monkey signed up for a race in Hamilton, and I had planned to go with. But a few weeks ago, she said, “Y’know, you could stay home if you want.” Not wishing to look overeager, I replied with something like, “well, I COULD do that. But only if you really don’t need me to go.”

Dinos!

Cole hasn’t settled on a particular “thing” or character to love. He digs Barney, Thomas the Tank Engine, and today showed an unexpected enthusiasm for Caillou. He gets excited by cars and machines, and loves the various symbols of festive holidays (Santa, snowmen (“men”), and pumpkins). But one theme that seems to be standing apart a little bit is that of dinosaurs.

Monkey House is populated by three lovely and wonderful simians–Greg, his wife Alex, and their son Cole. He is a jack of all trades, she is a scientist/athlete, and their son is a poopsmith.
