Parental Leave Day 21 – Gymboree

Posted by Greg February - 2 - 2010 - Tuesday

The usual crappy morning nap, coupled with some all-new variations on crying and suchlike.
Slightly improved “rolling around all over the place; impossible to corral on the mat anymore” skills.

And then we went to Gymboree Sing-and-Play (I think that’s what it’s called; too lazy to look it up!) in the afternoon.

Not a whole lot to say about that except, it was REALLY fun for Cole. The leader guided us through a bunch of activities to do with our children to let them have fun while improving their motor and social skills. Cole especially liked staring up at all the bubbles, plus all the dancing songs. Getting wiggled around is always fun for him, and doing it with a bunch of other people in a colorful new environment was even better.

One of the non-group activities he liked was sitting on a balance…disc…? Basically a reversed dome. He sits on the flat surface and the parent tilts it this way and that, giving him the chance to correct his own balance so as to not topple. I toppled him once, but just for fun. Caught him, of course.

He also liked “dangling” (with me spotting him of course) from the monkey bars. Go figure!

Afterwards, a nice long 2-hour nap in the car. Good for Cole, good for my reading, bad for my back.
