Short and sweet:
- Surprise 1.5 hr nap in the morning
- NON-CAR nap in the afternoon (though, only 40 mins… boo, hiss)
- Walked the dogs
The interesting part of the day came in the evening after he had gone to bed. He just started wailing furiously in bed. Like… scary loud and as though he had suffered his first real physical trauma.
From all appearances, it was night terrors. He didn’t really wake up when we went to comfort him. Apparently night terrors (very different from nightmares) are not unheard of for infants. Nothing you can really do about it. They’re not traumatized (even adults who have night terrors don’t really remember anything specific about it, if they remember at all) by it, so it’s actually harder on the parents. And it IS pretty difficult seeing your baby screaming at the top of his lungs and there’s nothing you can do to help him.
This was the second such occurrence. Could be worse. Could be a several-times-nightly thing.
You know I had the most difficult time going back to work after my 1st baby and finding quality daycare probably was the biggest reason.
