I must be getting good at this already. Did a few things in what seems to be becoming the normal routine.
I’ll spare you the details and get to the one thing that sort of went wrong today: organizing my outing.
Aunt Shauna came over for lunch, bringing yummy eatable delicacies (Subway sub for the win!). Cole was cute, giving his aunt the bestest smiles he has on tap, some of his “head shaking” monkey-thing, and generally being awesome. As lunch was wrapping up, I initially relieved Cole’s aunt of duty, saying, “OK, we’re going to get ready for our dog walk now; you can head out.” But she didn’t make it out the door before I realized that I could use an extra pair of hands. As a result, she got to watch my disorganized self in full glorious action.
“Here, hold him. Maybe I’ll try a quick trial in his new carrier in case I decide not to use the stroller.” Put on the carrier, can’t squeeze the little guy in. “Here, hold him again.”
“OK, you can head out. No, wait. Can you pass me those boots? OK, cya later. No, wait… hold him while I put on MY stuff also. OK, I think I have everything. Aw, crap, I should bring a bottle.
This went on for a bit… I would take 2 steps forward in organizing and one step back, before I finally said to her, “You’d better get out of here before I keep asking you for favours” and she escaped before I could retract.
All that to say: I don’t know how Alie does it. Maybe it’s like how Natalie described herself… maybe she only seems smooth and perfect because I’m not around to see her doing the “headless chicken” run. But I doubt it. She’s awesomely organized, has a plan of attack and executes it. I kinda just grab stuff and pray I haven’t forgotten something important by the time I get to my destination (like, say, my son).
One other cool thing today: He is “this” close to crawling, and is supporting his upper body awesomely with his arms, which was the weak link before. Now if only he could match those two things together he’d be off. And once he’s off, I’m going to be wishing he wasn’t.
Thanks for lunch and visit, Na! Tomorrow, Grammy visit!
