Parental Leave Days 25 & 26 – Morning Sleeps

Day 26

A pretty easy day. Days with visitors are always a lot easier mind you.

In the morning, he decided he was ready for a nap after only about 30 mins of being awake. Works for me! We both fell asleep together in the La-Z-Boy. He was asleep for over an hour when Grammy came through the front door for her visit. By this time, he was already sleeping lightly. The fuss from the dogs woke him up the rest of the way; that’s OK, though, he was pretty much done.

Parental Leave Day 24 – Swimming w/ June Mommies

Posted by Greg February - 5 - 2010 - Friday ADD COMMENTS

Today went pretty smooth, except that he had no late afternoon nap. He’s slipping into being a 2-nap guy, but the timing is all wrong. He’s more than ready for the next nap after each 2 hours awake, but he fights the 3rd nap so hard (even harder than the 1st two) that it doesn’t really work out.

Morning: Mama Monkey had already been up with the little guy for an hour and a half before I rolled my sorry ass out of bed (thanks, Alie!). So I had very little difficulty entertaining him for a little while. I could see that he was falling asleep as we were walking around, so I fed him a little bit and then let him crash out on my chest. This time I had the remote handy and could see the TV. I napped for about half an hour with him (warm, cuddly little child on your chest? Who WOULDN’T sleep?) and channel surfed for a bit. As it turns out, we had to get the show on the road at 11:00 to make it to a swimming meet-up with the June Mommies in Barrhaven. So I broke the cardinal rule of parenting and woke a sleeping baby.

Parental Leave Day 23 – Uneventful

Short and sweet:

- Surprise 1.5 hr nap in the morning
- NON-CAR nap in the afternoon (though, only 40 mins… boo, hiss)
- Walked the dogs

The interesting part of the day came in the evening after he had gone to bed. He just started wailing furiously in bed. Like… scary loud and as though he had suffered his first real physical trauma.

Parental Leave Day 22 – Wastin’ Time

Posted by Greg February - 3 - 2010 - Wednesday ADD COMMENTS

Today I basically passed time between naps. Which, in truth, is how I tend to think of most days. Not that I don’t love hanging out with the little guy and all that, but he’s always so “on on on” (natural for his age) that I look forward to the peace of naps. So, with naps being the “milestones” throughout the day, today was pretty much “wastin’ time”.

Morning was… difficult…

Parental Leave Day 21 – Gymboree

Posted by Greg February - 2 - 2010 - Tuesday ADD COMMENTS

The usual crappy morning nap, coupled with some all-new variations on crying and suchlike.
Slightly improved “rolling around all over the place; impossible to corral on the mat anymore” skills.

And then we went to Gymboree Sing-and-Play (I think that’s what it’s called; too lazy to look it up!) in the afternoon.
